We've made a lot of progress. Still plenty to be done, but stopping to reflect once in a while provides excellent motivation to keep moving forward.

I could look at these before-and-after pictures all day, particularly when the end result shows such restrained taste and understanding of what was once, or should have been there, and the careful thought and planning in the structural restoration. I jacked my younger, but slightly larger, 1899 stick style up with I-beams and bottle jacks and replaced all the sills several years ago, and experienced the sheer physical labor involved. Your work was more comprehensive and visionary, and the patient more ill. Nobody could have saved this house but you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! We know that our 'interpretive restoration' approach is rare, especially for a house that one intends to live in. It's nice to hear that you appreciate it.
DeleteI, too, love these before/after posts!
ReplyDeleteAll your work is first-rate. Bravo!
