Has It Really Been 7 Months?

We have kept our main focus on repairing the damage caused by the tree that was knocked down by Hurricane Michael. In addition to the north west corner of the roof, the top of this center gable was also hit by a limb.

Some upper branches also poked a couple holes in the roof near the middle of the house.

Finally the roof repairs are done. On to fixing the fascia and soffit.

This photo is in the attic at the damaged corner where I've had to reinforce or replace several rafters.

I've cut away the broken pieces of trim and removed some of the frieze boards. The new soffit and fascia are in place, as is the small return at the bottom of the roof line.

This photo shows the damage to the frieze detail just below the corner return.

I also had to reconstruct a couple of new corbels. Our band saw with a 1/4" blade made quick work of cutting out the overall shape, but the 4 holes were a pain.

At last! The house is back to the condition it was in last October. It's great to have the house whole again, but a little anticlimactic since all we did was undo what mother nature did.

Amy has been hard at work on the interior with finishing ceilings, walls, floors, trim, and doors. This is some of the wainscoting in the downstairs master bathroom. Some might call it pink. Sherwin Williams calls is Rose Dust, and that's what we're going with.
