The Tree Man Commeth

20 October 2018

Our cat Sasquatch checking things out.

The Trim Pro crew shows up and starts with the pine tree which is blocking the driveway. Amy and I had started working on the tree, but stopped when the trunk got too thick for our 18" chain saw. We also found out that insurance would help pay for removing it as well as the tree on the house.

They had a brand new skid steer with all the bells and whistles. Sadly, they declined to let me drive it.

The next step was to remove all the smaller limbs and stray branches so that there would be room for the crane and tree guy to access the larger limbs. To our surprise, none of our windows got broken from the tree falling on the house. We decided to remove all the windows from risky locations during the tree removal for safe keeping.

At the end of the first day of tree removal.

The next day was the day for heavy lifting.

Time to lift the main trunk off the house.

Last step was to cover the upper roof with a tarp.

In the 'Sad But True' department, the house now looks worse than it did when we bought it, despite working on it for over 18 months.

Kudos go to the folks from Trim Pro from High Point. They worked through a broken hydraulic hose on the boom truck and got the tree off the house without causing any further damage, and stuck with the job until it was done. Thank you.

  1. Wow! That's quite a tree job! So sorry about the damage to the house and power lines. We are glad to hear that nothing structural was involved in the downed tree saga. Hoping for 10 new steps forward!
